Forever Never 21...

Hello everyone,

Ok, this has me a little pissed and scratching my head. Forever 21 has decided to add maternity clothing to their mix of inventory. WTF???? You cater to teenage girls, why in the hell would you add cute, fashionable and affordable pregnancy clothes to the mix? Really corporate bigwigs, is there no conscious under those expensive suits? Where's the social responsibility?

The lucky states to get the first "Love 21" collection are: California, Texas, Utah, Alaska and Arizona. And to show you how smart Forever 21 is, California, Texas and Arizona have the highest rates in the nation for teenage pregnancy! I guess Alaska and Utah, have the highest number of parents in denial, about their children having sex. Um, hello...can you say the Palin family?

Another glaring stat that sticks out to me, the top teen pregnancy states, are also some of the highest Hispanic populations in the nation! Be careful my Hispanic friends, they'll ask to see your papers first, before they let you in the mall to buy something!

Oh and good luck with that whole 21 thang. Having a baby in your teen years, will definitely have you missing out on the youthful indulgences of being a new, free-to-drink (legally), traveling the world without a care in the world type of girl. Nope, your future brings lots of responsibilities, child-care, baby daddy drama, low paying jobs, government assistance and your very own, lovely section 8 living quarters...nice!

Is that grim enough for ya? Ok maybe you'll get married. Before you know who you are...again, good luck with that! I'm taking this harsh stance because I'm just shocked, that Forever 21 has put their bottom line before their conscious. I would never dream of marketing Msheel to teenagers...not with our slogan! Now, I can no more keep teenage girls from coming to the website, than Forever 21 can keep pregnant girls out of their stores. BUT they don't have to directly market to them!

WHEW!

I'm stepping down in my 5 inch heels, from my soapbox now...

  1. Very well said Ms. Heel, being an advocate for morals, values and dignity among women and our female youth, I couldn't have expressed this better myself.

What gets me is you see soccer moms getting up in arms over Harry Potter, but I promise you there will be silence in the peanut gallery on this issue.

I didn't know about this, thanks for providing us with more than just hot shoes.
