A BLACK OUT!!!

Happy Tuesday!

Ok you should know, I enjoy milestones or firsts of any kind. First man on the moon, my son's first steps, having almost 500 fans on Facebook, etc.

That's why I'm so intrigued with what the editors at Italia Vogue decided to do. Their entire February issue, will feature ONLY Black models (seen above)!

For those that aren't Black, you may be thinking-big wupp? Well it is a big wupp because most of the time, ethnic women are an afterthought to big corporations, for the following reasons, that you may have never thought about before:

• It is so rare to see a face of any other ethnicity on the cover of a magazine, especially here in America. But if you're a white woman, you may not have noticed. Seriously, don't yawl get tired of seeing Jennifer Anniston's mug?

• Exactly who wears nude pantyhose other than Caucasians? Nude for Black, Latin and Indian women is a joke. That color is waayyy to light for us...think about it.

• White women can walk into ANY department store or drugstore cosmetic section from South Dakota to Maine and find a plethora of cosmetic companies to choose from. Black girl like myself-not so much! Don't believe me? Do your own test the next time you're out shopping.

• The Bachelor on ABC? It's going into it's like 200th season (ok, I'm exaggerating for effect), but have you ever seen a Black bachelor? NUFF SAID!!!

I'll stop here; I think you get the point and hopefully I've given you some (soul)food for thought.... :-)
