IDEALLY, This Makes A Lot Of Sense!

Ms. Heels,
I've been hearing about this product for some time now, it's called IdealHeel. It's a heel protector that you put over your heels, to keep them from getting scratched while driving or sinking into grass, concrete grates or decks while walking.

Selling for $12.99 and available in 5 different colors, sure beats the Shoe Doc! I haven't tried them, because I am OVERLY ANAL ABOUT MY SHOES, but if any of you are really hard on your heels, or God forbid-drive in them, then this is a product for you!

I am curious to see if any of you would purchase IdealHeels. Please send us all an update/comment if you already own a pair. My biggest concern, is the fashionable or better yet, unfashionable aspect of Idealheels. Aesthetically, I personally feel it would take away my "Glam Factor". And honey, I am so not willing to sacrifice practicality over beauty-sorry...just not gonna happen!

But hey, that's just me.

Please check out this adorable video, that does a helluva job explaining Idealheels:

Bye for now (off to find a good Happy Hour),
Ms. Hill

  1. Hi,

What a coincidence! I'm looking into this problem right now for my friend who's getting married. I've looked at quite a few different solutions and I think it really depends what you want heel protectors for. There's a few things out there that seem to be designed to wear around town. I would put Ideal Heels and Smart Heels into this category. I think these would be great if you had to walk all day or drive in them but I always try and avoid that. Like you say, they may be discreet but they are still visible and so they still make your heels look funny and chunky. If you just want to protect your heels for walking in the city then there's a neat little product called Heel Angels which is just a tape to protect the heel and therefore the most discreet. My problem is looking for something to wear on grass to prevent sinking. The products designed for this are a little bit different. They all basically have a base that attaches to the bottom of your heel to make it wider. The ones I have found are Starlettos, Penny Heels, Sole Mates and Heel Stoppers - although there might be more. Although you can see them, these products are all clearly attachments and, unlike Ideal Heels, they don't just make your heels look thicker. Also, because they are all mainly for grass, they won't really be visible most of the time anyway. The main differences between them are the size and how they attach. I'm not sure about Penny Heels as they stick on with adhesive and might come off. Sole Mates are discreet looking because they are small but I'm worried they either might not fit the bride's heels or might not stop them sinking. Either way I'd be in trouble with the bride! That leaves Heel Stoppers and Starlettos. I think they would both work but Heel Stoppers come in three sizes and I don't want to have to buy all of them in case I get it wrong. Starlettos seem to be more flexible. They say they fit from 8mm up to 14 mm (they are Australian) which is from about a quarter inch to just over half. Even though they are more expensive, I think they are much prettier and more likely to be invisible on grass. Like you said, the point is that your wearing them at a time when you want to look your most glam so you don't want anyone to see them at all - but if you have to see them, then I think my friend will be happier with the little flower-shaped ones rather than the stopper. Sorry- it just reminds me too much of the bottom of a walking stick!

  2. Thanks Sarah! I'll have to look into Starlettos. But glad you feel the same way about the non-Glam Factor of these protectors.
