Hi Gurls,
I recently returned from Miami and while I was there, I attended a birthday party for a friend of mine. She and all her guests were fashionably dressed, her house, the D. J. and the photographer were all spot on-but the only thing that made me scratch my head, was the lack of alcohol! What? A party without alcohol-really! She only served punch; only it didn't pack a punch! It was (very sweet) fruit punch and for the "kick," she added fruit cocktail!
But what's amazing, my beautiful girlfriend was bouncing off the walls (in her 4 inch heels)! Her spirits were up and yet spirits weren't flowing. It got me to thinking; when was the last time you were just, 'high on life'? No hiding behind that 100 proof veil or the uncomfortable feeling of not holding an awesome pink concoction, encased in a sleek martini glass, when you have absolutely no one to talk to at a social gathering. I must say, at first it was weird; but then I and everyone else eased soberly into the moment-with our 'mocktales' in tow.
And speaking of grooves, thank God for the D.J., to help us all lose ourselves inside the groove! So if anything embarrassing went down that night, we could all, blame it on the boogie...(keeping with the 70's disco theme), that night, (not a bartender) but a D.J. saved my life!
You make a definite point here. Where is the rule that states we can't have fun without alcohol? This is definitely food for thought.
